"In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety." ~Abraham Maslow
My name is Melissa Koch and I empower individuals, parents, and groups to face the issues that are causing difficulties in their lives. I understand the challenges that can arise when confronting life’s obstacles, because I have seen friends, family, and myself overcome our own struggles. Since 2014, I have been using evidence based interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing and Attachment theory to help clients manage symptoms of Eating Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, and many other concerns. I have supported clients for 4 years in community mental health, over a year in residential substance use treatment, and several years working with clients recovering from eating disorders in a combination of outpatient and treatment facility settings. In 2014 and 2016 I was the co-coordinator of the National Eating Disorder Association Walk as well as volunteered with Missouri Eating Disorder Association since 2012. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. I have seen how Eating Disorders affect individuals and families and I am confident that I can support you in reaching your goals on your recovery journey.
